EMT-B Training Academy – September 2026

Launch your career in emergency medical services by joining the September 2026 EMT-B Training Academy in Newport News, Virginia. This instructor-led program is designed for individuals who want to build a career in EMS while gaining the knowledge, practical skills, and clinical experience required to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician.

Graduates who successfully complete the academy and obtain EMT-B certification will receive a full-time employment offer with LifeCare Medical Transports, part of the Priority Ambulance family, with a 24-month employment commitment after licensure.

Program Overview

  • Training Location: Newport News, VA
  • Training Dates: September 14 – October 16, 2026
  • Program Length: 5 weeks
  • Certification Earned: EMT-Basic (EMT-B)
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (up to 40 hours weekly)
  • Training Format: Classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory sessions, and supervised clinical rotations
  • Clinical Experience: 24 hours on LifeCare Medical Transport ambulances

Participant Responsibilities

  • Attend all scheduled classroom sessions, laboratory exercises, and clinical rotations
  • Successfully complete all required coursework and practical evaluations
  • Schedule and complete state and National Registry certification testing after graduation
  • Accept and fulfill a full-time employment commitment with LifeCare Medical Transports for a minimum of two years following certification

Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete an interview
  • Pass the required entrance assessment
  • Meet background investigation requirements, including motor vehicle record review
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
