Position Summary
The EMT Coordinator is responsible for facilitating medical transport across all HCA Healthcare facilities. This includes dispatching in-house transport resources and coordinating with third-party providers. The coordinator gathers relevant clinical information, matches patients to the appropriate transport resource, and ensures seamless communication with facilities and the Patient Logistics Center (PLC).
This position requires excellent customer service, professional communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities

Receive and process transport requests, coordinating internal and external medical transport services

Utilize software systems to log patient information, dispatch transport assets, and track transport progress

Respond to calls with urgency while maintaining excellent customer service standards

Ensure EMTALA compliance through ongoing education and risk awareness

Maintain familiarity with hospital staff, services, and specialized programs

Enter and maintain accurate data for reporting purposes on transport activity and patient admissions

Uphold patient confidentiality and rights at all times

Work collaboratively with healthcare teams and participate in regular staff meetings

Address patient or staff concerns professionally and escalate when necessary

Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

EMT Certification (required)

High School Diploma or GED (required); Associate degree or higher preferred

Experience in healthcare settings (hospital or outpatient clinic) preferred

Prior experience in call center, communications, or dispatch environment preferred

Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

Comfortable using multiple computer systems and applications simultaneously

Ability to manage multiple tasks, demonstrate good judgment, and think critically

Knowledge of medical terminology, hospital operations, and transport procedures

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
